So, I was recently given an PVP wager on a 1v1 StarCraft Match. As a joke, I decided to go for the Showcase copy of “The Master, Multiplied”, featuring art by the ridiculously talented Jack Hughes. And somehow… I won.
This isn’t the regular Surgefoil version either. It’s the Showcase, with that perfect mash-up of Toclafane from the Harold Saxon storyline (“The Sound of Drums” and “Last of the Time Lords”) swirling around the “King of the Wasteland” take on the Simm-era Master.
According to Beckett, it came back as a 9.5, and they’re listing it as a POP-1.
2023 Magic: The Gathering — Universes Beyond: Doctor Who
The Master, Multiplied — SHOWCASE R — 0545
Total graded: 1
When it shows up, I’m planning to photograph it with a handful of Jelly Babies from the UK grocery shop downtown, because this is not only my first Beckett slab, but a POP-1. That puts it in the same category of “what the hell are the odds” as my first CGC comic, which was a one-of-a-kind autographed FAITH No.1 (2016).
Until then, I’ll leave you with a classic track.
